Fijian kava, also known simply as “yaqona” in the Fijian language, is a traditional beverage made from the roots of the kava plant (Piper methysticum).

Kava has been an integral part of Fijian culture for centuries and is commonly consumed during social and ceremonial gatherings. Our kava is grown and sourced from Savusavu Fiji, an area know for it pure and premium quality kava.

Our Story.

Fijian Kava began in Lautoka, Fiji’s second-largest city, fondly known as the Sugar City. Kava has been part of our family for generations, fostering deep connections and community through social tradition. Today, we’re proudly based in Suva, the capital of Fiji, with our New Zealand office located in Christchurch.

We retail across New Zealand and Fiji and wholesale to the USA, Europe, China, India, Southeast Asia, and Australia. We also specialise in high-kavalactone extraction for use in pharmaceuticals and natural supplements.

Our Supply

Our kava is proudly sourced from the Savusavu region of Fiji, where we partner with family farmers who have grown kava for generations.

These farmers are experts in cultivating both smooth, earthy varieties for traditional consumption and high-kavalactone crops (15%+) ideal for extraction.

By working exclusively with family-run farms, we help preserve the culture, craft, and generational knowledge that traditional Fijian kava farming has passed down over centuries.
